Corporate Background
NEXT
Facility Management Services, Inc. (NEXT FMS) launched in 2008 as a Canadian federal corporation providing
first-class Facility Management (FM) consulting services in addition to interim
facility management. Our specialized business sectors include Integrated
Townships, Corporate Offices, Academic, Healthcare, and Non-Profit
organizations.
John
Ringness, SFP, MRICS, CBIFM, NEXT FMS President and CEO, began his vocation in FM with Canadian Linen in 1981 subsequently joining Marriott
Corporation, Facilities Division in 1989 where he trained across all aspects of
facility operations in both public and private sectors including universities,
hospitals, and care facilities. John was
selected by Marriott to lead the first outsourcing at one of Canada's top
university's facility management department. This project included engineering,
maintenance, housekeeping, landscaping and construction services.
After 10 years with Marriott (later purchased by Sodexho), John's skills and reputation caught the attention of another large outsourcing corporation, and in 1999 he left Acadia University in Nova Scotia as Director of Facility Management to become the ARAMARK Senior District Manager for Western Canada for Facilities. John ultimately concluded his partnership with ARAMARK with a successful succession plan and systems for its FM management team.
In 2006, NEXT's John Ringness, SFP, was contracted as an FM Consultant to conduct an Operational Review for a 6000 hectare (15,000 acre) integrated + $2B USD township designed on the New Urbanism concept in India. The American Congress for New Urbanism awarded the Lavasa project for "Best Master Plan". Lavasa, the development corporation, also the township name, subsequently secured John to implement his ideas in his new role as the projects first Chief Facilities Officer. During this project in India, John had the opportunity to experience with other multinational FM providers including ISS and Tramel Crow.
NEXT FMS was selected to provide a guest speaker at the International Facility Management Association's Industry Forum in Vancouver, Canada in April 2009. John addressed attendees on the critical recruiting techniques for FM professionals. Two months later, NEXT FMS was again invited to address FM professionals from around the world. John's presentation at the FM Asia Conference in Beijing, China discussed the essential elements of a successful outsourcing strategy.
In order to better serve its clients, NEXT FMS has developed and implemented proprietary FM Strategic Plans, Operational Reviews, a Capital Asset Sustainability Program, Outsourcing Strategies and a host of other services. NEXT FMS has at its disposal an arsenal of qualified professionals to serve in most aspects of FM services.
John Ringness, SFP, is a professional member of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) and John
currently serves as the President of IFMA's Facility Management
Consultants Council, which represents over 400 consultants from around the
world. He received his sustainability credential (SFP - Sustainability Facility Professional) from the International Facility Management Association in 2012.
